Dear Parents:
I am writing to inform you of some changes in the cafeteria. We are having a severe problem with students charging over the limit on their lunch accounts. The computer program is set up to allow 5 charges after they hit a zero balance. This amounts to $9.00 for a full pay student, $3.40 for a reduced pay student and $1.00 for a free student. I have tried to be as patient as I can in working with the students. I tell them when the account is out of money and then begin reminding them that they need to bring money. I also send notices home with the students informing you of what they owe. This does not seem to be working. So as of 1-12-2009, when your child gets to the maximum charge limit they will be given a peanut butter sandwich and a carton of milk for their lunch. Then after 3 days of that they will not be able to come thru the line to get food in the cafeteria. This grieves me greatly because I do not like not feeding our students, but this has become a major problem.
Another policy that will go into effect on Monday the 12th of January will be that if you have a negative balance you will not be allowed to purchase any seconds.
I can be reached at the Elementary school (903-965-7725) most days from 6 AM to 4 PM. I will be glad to answer any questions or give you the balance of your child’s account.
Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.
