Mrs. Adams’ Class

I hope everyone had a great summer. Mine was too short, but other than that a good one. School has started off with a bang and the classes are going well. I have been so impressed with all of the kids this year. They are all excited about the new year and are doing a great job. We have been working on Volleyball the last two weeks, so if your kids come home wanting to bump a ball over the house it is my fault. Sorry! We will start football after we finish our volleyball unit. I guess then you will have balls thrown all over the house. Oh well, life is fun. I think this year is going to be so much fun and I am looking forward to the days ahead.
Parents, I am hoping that that each of you could donate a case of water bottles for awards this year in the gym. The students love earning the water bottles through games and tickets and it seems very successful. (Before I go on any further, thank you!)
Because of the nutrition law, we are only able to give out water for my awards in the gym. The law says plain bottled water. Thank you for your donation and thank you for your wonderful cooperation. I will continue the ticket awards system. This has worked great the last few years and the students seem to like it. The award system enables each student to win the drinks while in the gym. Students may win because of behavior, games or tickets. Thank you so much for your help!
I will be sending out information about the Panther Paws (a group of students who participate in basketball fundamentals during the High school basketball games) in a couple of weeks. This program has been a great success and the students involved have done a great job.
Parents please make sure your students have their tennis shoes. The students have to fill out a conduct card every time they forget their shoes. Three times of not having their tennis shoes in a six weeks will bring their grade down. Please make sure the shoes are safe.
No--*high heeled tennis shoes
*backless tennis shoe
*one strap in the back
*wide tennis shoes that are not going to stay on their feet.
*one strap across the top. I have had a lot of girls wanting to wear the little strap shoes. Please have other shoes for gym. These are not really tennis shoes and they are really bad on the student’s ankles. Thanks!
Also, conduct cards are filled out for bad behavior. If a child has to fill out a conduct card it can result in his/her grade going down. Good behavior is awarded with tickets, drinks, and their name in a drawing every six weeks. I also need a note if your child is sick and needs to sit out. The State says that each child is to have 135 minutes of P.E. a week, so if your child is sick I just need documentation. If your child has to set out for more than 3 weeks, I give the child a “Satisfactory” instead of “Excellent”. Thanks! I don’t have a lot of problems with behavior or people wanting to sit out, because you have such great kids!!!!!
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!
Remember, as I always say---”Physical Education is a wonderful part of a child’s life and staying fit in today’s society is very important. I enthusiastically believe that Physical Education not only enhances one’s physical endurance, but it also helps one’s self esteem and daily living skill.”
Always remember: Be the Best That You Can Be!
